Police search river banks for man missing for over a month

There are growing fears for a missing Melbourne man, who has not been seen or heard from in more than a month.

The desperate search for Nathan Day this morning will see SES scour river banks around Wangaratta where he is known to frequent.

The 34-year-old, who also goes by the surname Chambers, was last seen about 9am on 26 July at an address on Morrell Street, Wangaratta.

“Police members will be working with members of the SES this morning, conducting a search of areas that Nathan has been known to frequent including the banks of the Ovens and King River in and around Wangaratta,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

“Police are concerned for Nathan’s welfare due to the amount of time he has been missing. He has also failed to show up for a number of appointments.”

Nathan is known to frequent the Wangaratta and Benalla areas, as well as the Melbourne CBD.

Police have released an image of Nathan in the hope someone recognises him and can provide information on his whereabouts.

He is described as 175cm tall with a thin build, hazel eyes and wavy medium-length blonde-brown hair and he may have a brown beard and moustache.

When last seen, he was wearing a black jacket and jeans, carrying a blue back pack with ripped zips.

Anyone who sights Nathan or has information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page
