Murder accused arrested while trying to 'changing his appearance'
Police have revealed the man wanted over the stabbing murder of a young father at the Elizabeth Shopping Centre “was in the process of changing his appearance” when the officers swooped.
After 48 hours on the run, hiding out in three properties, the police manhunt to find Shaun Falkiner ended with his arrest at a Findon address.
Father of three Alex Watts was stabbed outside the shopping centre on Thursday and died in hospital later that night.
The knife suspected of being used in the attack was found just metres from the crime scene.
Police will allege after attacking Mr Watts, Falkiner fled in a white Commodore with his partner and child.
"There's no indication that anyone else will be charged in relation to this matter, however, clearly, the investigation is still ongoing,” Chief Inspector Shane Addison told 7 News.
“We're also aware from the CCTV, there were two members of the public parked in vehicles and a taxi… so we’re appealing for those people to contact Crime Stoppers.
Tensions boiled over during a makeshift memorial on Saturday, which saw punches thrown and one man escorted away by security.
Falkiner will front a magistrate on Monday via video link.
His partner and child are safe.
