A young tourist’s final moments before he slipped and plunged to his death off a Perth cliff have been captured on camera.

The 20-year-old Indian student, known as Ankit, was jumping across rocks at the popular tourist site The Gap in Albany on Thursday afternoon when he fell 40 metres.

Police, SES and a rescue helicopter were all called in to help search and his body was recovered from the water.

A number of people visiting the spot witnessed the horrific fall, including three of his friends.

“It was like his hobby to take pictures in each and every moment,” Sahil said.

His friends released photos of Ankit’s final moments as he jumped across the rocks in a hope it will warn others of the danger of cliffs such as The Gap.

“It’s like a warning for others,” Sahil said.

Ankit had just started his new life in Perth and had only been in the city for a few months.

His body is now being transported back to his family in India.
