Worried dad's chilling discovery after tracking daughter's Uber

When a 25-year-old woman failed to return home, her concerned father used an app to track her location and rescued her from a terrifying ordeal.

The Baltimore woman had taken ride sharing service Uber on Saturday evening (local time).

Her father became worried around 11:30pm when she hadn’t returned home when she had agreed to, so he used an unnamed app to track her location.

The father drove to an intersection in the May Chapels area where he found his daughter in the backseat of the vehicle with the Uber driver who she claims was sexually assaulting her.

The father then had “words” with the driver who allegedly threw his daughter’s handbag at him, got in the front seat and drove away.

Uber said they would cooperate with police investigations and provided a statement to local CBS reporter Mike Hellgren.

“What’s been reported is appalling beyond words. We removed the driver from the app as soon as this report was sent to us,” Uber said.

Baltimore County Police confirmed the allegations and told CBS the incident was “isolated” and do not believe there are other victims.

Corporal Shawn Vinson described the investigation as “very active” but said no charges have been filed yet.

In September last year Uber launched several safety features on the app in the US, including an “In-app emergency button” for both drivers and passengers that when activated, sends the location and details of the vehicle to emergency operators.

The feature is gradually being rolled out across all states in the US and Mexico, there is no word on when the feature will be activated in Australia.
