Chilling CCTV of man dragging body after mum stabbed 58 times
Grim new details have emerged after the mysterious murder of a mum-of-two whose body was found stuffed inside a duffel bag and dumped on the side of a road.
Orsolya Gaal, from Queens in New York, was stabbed 58 times in the neck, torso and arm before her body was discovered by a jogger in Kew Gardens — almost one kilometre from her home — around 8am on Saturday (local time).
Police said the passerby noticed blood leaking from the hockey duffle bag. The trail led detectives to the 51-year-old’s home.
Officers said they believe Ms Gaal was killed in her basement as her 13-year-old son sat on the top floor of the home, NBC reported.
Surveillance footage released by police shows a haunting figure, who appears to be a man, dragging the duffle bag down the road just hours before the woman's body was found.
He also appears to be carrying something in his other hand.
“Around 4:30 am, you see somebody rolling this [duffel bag] down the sidewalk from multiple cameras,’’ a police source told the New York Post.
A medical examiner’s report released on Monday (local time) showed Ms Gaal died of multiple sharp force injuries to her neck and her death was ruled a homicide, with police labelling it "sloppy".
Mum's last moments before murder
Police sources and a neighbour told local media Ms Gaal had spent the day in her backyard before going out with friends.
The mum reportedly waited alone at a Queens bar for 40 minutes at some point in the night before returning home around midnight.
It’s not clear if she ever met up with the person she was waiting for, but police told the New York Post they believe the mum knew her killer because there were no signs of a break-in.

“She knew the people she was out with,” a source said.
“We’re talking to them. We also have to figure out, did she meet some mysterious stranger along the way?”
No arrests have been made so far, but police are hoping to speak with a handyman who reportedly had an affair with the 51-year-old.
It’s unknown when their romantic relationship ended.
Killer sends threatening message to mum's husband
Ms Gaal’s husband, Howard Klein, and their couple’s 17-year-old son are said to have been touring universities in Oregon at the time of the brutal slaying, according to WPIX.
Police sources told the publication he received a text message from his wife’s killer reading: “Your whole family is next”.
Mr Klein told the New York Post there were “concerns about our safety”.
Ms Gaal’s younger son has been questioned by police and released.
The New York Police Department on Tuesday offered a $3,500 (A$4,706) reward for information about the 51-year-old's death.
