Shocking dashcam shows truck turning at intersection, flips car

A truck has been filmed turning into a car causing it to crash in shocking dash cam footage captured on a busy Sydney road.

The car is filmed driving along Parramatta Road near Lidcombe on Tuesday about 12.45pm in video uploaded by Dash Cam Owners Australia’s Facebook page.

The car approaches an intersection at Birnie Avenue in the right lane.

But as it goes through the intersection a truck, travelling from the opposite direction, begins to turn across the intersection into oncoming traffic. The driver tries to veer out of the way and swerves into the left lane before mounting the curb and crashing.

The video has more than 96,000 views with many saying the crash could have been avoided.

Many blamed the truck driver.

One user wrote the dash cam driver had “no chance at stopping from that close of a distance”.

“I guess the few pallets that needed to be delivered at a certain time were more important than life,” he wrote.

“Completely the truck driver's fault turning across traffic,” another added.

But some conceded the crash could have been completely avoided if the dash cam driver took more care going through the intersection.

“You have to be bit cautious while approaching any junction. Put your feet on brakes, even if you do not want to reduce your speed,” one user suggested.

“If you see traffic turning across the road you are on, ahead of you, it's advisable to at least put your left foot over the brake pedal, if not take your right foot off the throttle and place over the brake pedal,” another wrote.

“The fact that drivers don't do this doesn't put them at fault but is nonetheless a good idea.”

A NSW Police spokesman said police hadn’t received any complaints regarding the crash.
