Man 'threatened with a fine' for taking home wrong McDonald's order
A Sydney father claims he was treated like the real life Hamburglar and threatened with a fine for taking home the wrong McDonald’s order.
Santo Le Rocca told the Daily Telegraph he paid cash for two double cheese burgers, two large chips, nuggets and two frozen Cokes from McDonald’s drive-through at Bass Hill on March 22 about 8.30pm. He said he also filmed some of the staff on Snapchat.
But the father got a different order and said he only realised when he got home. He added his daughter was annoyed not getting nuggets, but they ate the food anyway because he “couldn’t be bothered” to drive back.
Mr Le Rocca believed he got $17 more worth of food than what he originally ordered, and according to him that was enough to warrant a visit from police who knocked on his door two hours later.
“They accused me of stealing McDonald’s and I thought it was a joke,” Mr La Rocca said.
The father said police told him he should have returned the food.
“It’s a ridiculous waste of time to chase people for getting the wrong Maccas order,” he said.
“Shouldn’t they be fighting crime, not fighting the Hamburglar?”

A NSW Police spokesman told Yahoo7 police from Bankstown area command spoke with a 44-year-old man at a Georges Hall address about 10.30pm.
It followed reports a man had “attended a fast food restaurant about 9pm on Thursday, March 22 and began filming staff without permission and allegedly failed to pay for food”.
The spokesman said police took his version of events and “following inquiries, police will not be taking any formal action due to conflicting versions provided”.
A McDonald's spokesperson said its employees "felt intimidated by the person filming them without consent and decided to notify the police, who chose to investigate further”.
