Netflix Boss Confirms Hopes To Sign Deal With Prince Harry And Meghan Markle

Netflix’s chief content officer has confirmed he’s hoping he can lure Prince Harry and Meghan Markle into a new deal once they have officially stepped down from their duties as senior royals.

Earlier this month, the royal couple made headlines the world over when they announced their plans to “step back as ‘senior’ members of the royal family and work to become financially independent”.

While it has already been reported that Meghan has signed a deal to do voiceover work with the Walt Disney Company, Ted Sarandos has said he hopes he can convince them to do work with streaming service Netflix too.

“Who wouldn’t be interested?” he told PA at an event in Los Angeles, when asked about whether a deal with Meghan and Harry was on his wishlist. “Yes, sure.”

According to Deadline, Meghan has agreed to do work with Disney, in exchange for a donation to the elephant charity, Elephants Without Borders.

Last week, video footage of Harry speaking to Disney chief Robert Iger about his wife’s talents as a voice over artist while they were at the premiere of The Lion King in July resurfaced on social media.

Barack and Michelle Obama have their own deal with Netflix, which was signed in 2018.

The Obama’s production company, Higher Ground, is behind the documentary American Factory, which is nominated for an Academy Award at this year’s Oscars.

Higher Ground is also producing a film about slavery abolitionist Frederick Douglass and a children’s series emphasising the importance of healthy eating, a cause that Michelle Obama championed during her time as first lady.
