Mum, 28, dies after 'being mauled by dog' while house-sitting

A 28-year-old woman has died after she was reportedly mauled to death by a dog while house-sitting.

Rebecca McCurdy, a mum of two, was found dead on Saturday (local time) at a home in Skiatook, north of Tulsa, in the US state of Oklahoma, local publication KTUL reported.

The local sheriff’s office found her body in the garage after being called to do a welfare check at the property.

The caller said Ms McCurdy was house-sitting and taking care of the owner’s dogs.

Deputies found several pit bulls in cages in the garage and noticed one had been toppled over.

KTUL said investigators reported seeing multiple signs of a dog attack but the mum’s official cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.

The dogs have been removed from the property by animal welfare and are being held as an investigation is launched.

The homeowner said he raised the dogs as a hobby and to sell.

A GoFundMe page created by Ms McCurdy’s cousin, Sheila McCallister Meinhardt, said the mum has left behind two young children and her husband.

“If you would like to make a donation to help in the future for Rebecca's children, anything is graciously appreciated,” Sheila wrote.
