Confusing sign baffles drivers who think it must contain a typo

A perplexing parking sign in Melbourne has confused motorists over its contradicting conditions.

Reddit user v1sag3 uploaded an image of the sign on Sunday which appears to show two conditions where their times overlap.

“Confusing parking sign,” the user said.

The first rule says there is half hour parking between 7.30pm and 6.30pm Monday to Saturday.

Yet the second says there is two hour parking between 6.30pm to 8.30pm Monday to Saturday.

If correct, there would be a one hour period starting at 7.30pm where parking could either be 30 minutes or two hours.

Many of the users who commented on the post assumed there must be a mistake in the first part of the sign.

“Typo? Top 7.30 should be AM rather than PM,” one person pointed out, with others agreeing.

A City of Melbourne spokesperson confirmed to Yahoo News Australia there was a mistake in the sign and it would be rectified immediately.

“The City of Melbourne will correct a parking sign near the corner of Elizabeth Street and Victoria Street that incorrectly states 7.30pm, instead of 7.30am,” a spokesperson said.

“This is expected to be completed within the next day.”

Its not the first sign an Australian parking sign has caused confusion, with Sydney Council admitting an error on a Millers Point sign.
