SUNDAY NIGHT EXCLUSIVE: Meghan Markle’s half-brother has spoken out about the reasons behind their estrangement as it’s revealed he wrote a letter to Prince Harry urging him to put a stop to their wedding.
In an exclusive interview with Sunday Night’s Melissa Doyle, Thomas Markle Jr claims Meghan, 36, deliberately distanced herself from her family as she got her first taste of Hollywood fame.
On Wednesday it was revealed he had written a vicious letter to Prince Harry, warning him that his decision to marry the 36-year-old American divorcee is “the biggest mistake in Royal wedding history.”
In his interview with Doyle, the 51-year-old claims the last time he saw Meghan was in 2011 – just before she relocated to Toronto to begin filming Suits.
“We spent every weekend together at my grandmother’s house before she passed,” he told Sunday Night.
“Her and my dad and me. We’d spend a couple of hours there every weekend.
“Then she was off and running (with Suits). I haven’t spoken to her since.”

When news of an incident between him and his fiancee hit the tabloids – police were called after an alleged drunken altercation – Thomas Markle Jr claims he tried to “reach out” to his half-sister.
“The response I got was pretty weird,” he said.
“It was like, ‘they’re distant family, I have nothing to do with them’. I understand that she’s busy and doesn’t have time for things.
“But her family, the whole family, is in the spotlight now. You think you’d acknowledge the fact and do something about it.”
Details of a letter Thomas wrote to Prince Harry have emerged, in which he states: “Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you.”
“What kind of person starts out by using her own father until he’s bankrupt, then forgets about him in Mexico leaving him broke, over mostly all her debts?,” he writes.
“And when it’s time to pay him back she forgets her own father like she never knew him.”
He claims his father went into debt to support Meghan’s dream of an acting career, but that they have not even been invited to the royal wedding.
“It’s very apparent her tiny bit of Hollywood fame has gone to her head,” he says in the hand-written letter.
“Not to mention, to top it all off, she doesn’t invite her own family and instead invites complete strangers to the wedding. Who does that?
“You and the royal family should put an end to this fake fairytale wedding before it’s too late.”
In a recent interview with the Daily Mirror he said: “She is giving the greatest performance of her life.”
“I’ve read that Meg wants to be like Diana,” he added.
“Diana was worshipped by everyone in the world. She was loved for the right reasons.
“That’s what Meg wants, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. She’s not genuine like Diana.”
