McDonald’s thickshake hack rated ‘best ever’ on TikTok

McDonald's fans love to find ways to tweak the menu to make it taste even better and an Aussie TikTok user has done just that to one of the fast-food giant's most popular items.

Brad Canning (@bradcanning) rushed to his local Maccas in Melbourne to test out a hack involving a thickshake and an espresso coffee that he's deemed the 'best ever'.

"To say that I ran to my car is an understatement; I don’t even have shoes on. I'm trying this right this second," he said as he filmed himself hopping in his car.

After securing himself the two 'ingredients' via the drive-thru, Brad proceeded to pour the hot espresso shot into the thickshake and give it a good stir.

"OK, I've got my thickshake and my tiny little espresso, I should have probably got a double shot, but here we go. Let's try," he said.

After just one sip, it was clear that Brad was more than pleased with the taste.

"Probably the best life hack ever, this is so good," he said.

"Also, the single shot [of espresso] was enough."

But Brad can't take full credit for creating the tasty beverage. He initially discovered the delicious drink in an earlier video by UK-based TikTok user @melika_zaidi, who he credited in his clip.

"This is an award-winning beverage," Melika announced in her clip.

The thickshake/espresso hack — or 'thickspresso' as we're calling it — comes after McCafe spilled the tea on Aussies' drinking habits, to celebrate the launch of McCafe’s new blend, available in restaurants now.

According to the research, the humble cappuccino is the country's hot drink of choice as voted by 30 percent of the 1,010 caffeine lovers surveyed. The cap is followed by flat whites with 20 percent of the vote and lattes with 18 percent.

Almost a third of Aussies sip more than three cups of coffee per day, with 7am being the official 'coffee hour' when the majority of people enjoy their first brew.

The earlier the better it seems, as just over a quarter of people prioritise their morning cuppa before they tackle anything else in the day.
