Fans described Poh's appearance as 'iconic'.

Thank God You’re Here viewers were shocked during Wednesday night’s episode when beloved cook and former MasterChef contestant Poh Ling Yeow made a surprising cameo.

The media personality popped up during comedian Joel Creasey’s sketch, which was poking fun at the reality TV competition genre.

Joel was playing a contestant named Jake on a series titled ‘Kompetition Kitchen’ and coincidentally made a MasterChef reference when he walked through the famous blue door.

“It’s time to compete on Kompetition Kitchen and I’m so excited, I’ve watched every season and I love Julie Goodwin,” he remarked.

Joel was then taken aback when the show’s panel of judges turned around and he saw Poh, who came second to Julie on MasterChef’s inaugural season.

The crowd erupted in applause at Poh’s appearance as she tried her best not to break character, and Joel screamed: “Poh my god!”

“I know Julie beat you on your season, but you’ll always be number one to me, Poh,” he added.

The sketch continued with Joel repeatedly being given negative critiques from the judges, with Poh scoring him a zero for his dessert.

When host Celia Pacquola asked at the end of the sketch what it was like portraying the ‘mean judge’, Poh replied: “It felt good.”

Fans quickly took to social media to applaud both Poh and Joel on their efforts, describing the scene as “outstanding”, “iconic” and “so damn funny”.

“This episode was hilarious! Great cameo by Poh!” one person commented, while another added, “My stomach hurt from laughter. Best one yet”.

“Poh is exquisite, this is amazing,” someone else shared, followed by a different user who said, “The accidental Julie Goodwin reference was perfect!”.

Since appearing on MasterChef in 2009, Poh has gone on to host multiple cooking shows, release four cookbooks, host Snackmasters and compete on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

She also returned to the MasterChef kitchen in 2020 for the show’s twelfth season where she finished in sixth place.
