During an argument with staff at Crunch Fitness in La Mirada, California, after they said they would cancel his membership over inappropriate behaviour, Reyes reportedly told them he would return, according to prosecutors.

The former gym-goer allegedly kept true to his word and returned at 1.30am, March 12, ramming a stolen car through the premises, according to police.

Security footage video obtained by ABC 7 Eyewitness News shows a fitness centre employee standing at the reception desk as the Honda tore through the building.

The worker quickly leaped out of the way in the nick of time, coming within metres of being hit. Nobody was seriously injured.
