Man 'tied up and sexually assaulted' in his own home

A man has allegedly been tied up and sexually assaulted by another man inside his home, police say.

The 33-year-old victim was allegedly attacked by a 37-year-old man from South Australia at his home near Armidale, in the NSW Northern Tablelands, on Sunday.

Officers from New England Police District responded to reports of the assault, and following inquiries, the 37-year-old man, how was not known to the victim, was arrested at a home in nearby Uralla.

The 33-year-old victim was taken to Armidale Hospital in a stable condition, while the alleged perpetrator was taken to Armidale Police Station.

He was charged with five counts of aggravated sexual assault, deprivation of liberty and aggravated sexual assault inflicting actual bodily harm on victim.

Police said in a statement it would be alleged in court that the 37-year-old South Australian man tied the other man up before sexually assaulting him.

He was refused bail to appear at Armidale Local Court on Monday.
