Man makes bold travel vow after winning $1 million lotto prize

A Brisbane man has planned to splurge on luxury travel after becoming an overnight millionaire from last week’s Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto draw.

The New Farm man won a $1 million prize, after purchasing a ticket at a local newsagent on Merthyr Road.

The man's was the only division one winning entry in the Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4093, which was drawn on Wednesday, 7 July 2021.

Another Queensland man won a $6 million division one prize earlier this month, whilst a Melbourne woman scored a $1.45 million lottery prize last Monday.

When asked about how he intended to spend his winnings, the Brisbane winner said he had a few ideas in mind.

“I’m currently still working but I am now debating whether or not to retire this year,” he said.

“I don’t think I will ever travel economy again. Business class flights will be my splurge!”

The winning numbers from the Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4093 were 26, 5, 1, 12, 34, and 20, with supplementary numbers 45 and 19.

Man was millionaire for days before discovering win

As viewers sat glued to the television on Wednesday, hoping their numbers would appear in the Gold Lotto draw, one man hit the jackpot, only to discover the win three days later.

Confirming his win with The Lott, this afternoon, the man said he learned about the win over the weekend.

“I had absolutely no idea. I checked the ticket over the weekend,” he said.

The New Farm resident reacted to the win with disbelief, stating he had to see the announcement for himself.

“I didn’t believe it of course, so I went home and checked the winning numbers on the website.”

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 236 so far for 2021, with 61 of the winners being Golden Casket customers.

Last year, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto created 93 millionaires across Australia, with 101 division one winners, collectively receiving $100 million in prize money.

Mystery Lotto winners continue to be discovered, with a US man learning he’d won $1 million three months after his numbers were drawn, due to a forgotten ticket.

A Sydney resident also won $40 million earlier in the year, being one of two division one Powerball winners.

There are more chances to jackpot throughout the week, with Tuesday’s Oz Lotto offering $2 million, and Thursday’s Powerball with $8 million up for grabs.
