Mystery lottery winner pockets eye-watering $233 million

One lucky winner has claimed more than $230 million from the lottery.

Friday night’s EuroMillions Superdraw saw only one winner but they are yet to come forward.

They are the only entry to match all seven numbers which were 7, 20, 36, 40 and 46 and the Lucky Stars numbers 2 and 4.

The only thing known about them is they are a resident of the United Kingdom. EuroMillions is now encouraging people to check their tickets.

The UK winner wasn’t the only person to walk away with a decent haul though with three people also taking home more than $770,000 for matching six numbers.

The last EuroMillions Superdraw was in February and a resident of Switzerland took out the mouthwatering jackpot of $384 million.

“The final Superdraw of 2020 also helped to create a record, with a player from France pocketing €200 ($366) million just a few weeks later,” EuroMillions said.

“Friday’s jackpot ranks as the second-largest of 2021. It is the seventh time the top prize has been won this year.”

It is not known when the next EuroMillions Superdraw will occur at this stage.

The mystery caused a flurry on social media, with many in disbelief at the sheer size of the prize.

"That is too much money for one person," one Facebook user wrote.

Despite the name of the draw, Australians can participate in the EuroMillions.
