Man brawls with passenger on plane after he is refused drinks

An American Airlines passenger has been arrested after allegedly unleashing an abusive tirade at a flight attendant before swinging punches at another traveller.

Jason Felix is said to have become aggressive on board flight 1293 from St Croix to Miami last Wednesday after he was refused any more alcohol by crew members, the Washington Post reported.

Footage from the flight shows the passenger shouting at the flight attendant before directing an elbow in the direction of the male employee.

Another video of Felix from onboard the flight shows him allegedly grappling with a male passenger after a flight attendant rebuffs his request for more drink and tells him to sit down. According to FBI documents, cited by the Washington Post, the men “appeared to be hitting each other”.

Felix allegedly spat blood on the passenger and threatened to kill the same passenger in a separate incident, US television station WPLG reported.

Other passengers attempted to calm Felix down, before he began shouting: “I know my rights … That man is going to lose his job.”

Felix was eventually escorted from the plane by four police officers on arrival in Miami.

He is facing charges of interfering with a flight crew, which can carry up to a 20-year sentence, according to the Washington Post.

American Airlines said in a statement to Yahoo7 News they were grateful for their employee’s actions during the altercation.

“On Wednesday, May 23, requested law enforcement meet flight 1293 from St. Croix to Miami due to a disruptive passenger,” the airline said.

“We thank our crew for taking care of our customers and are proud of the work they do every single day.”
