'Lovely surprise': Man's 'gross' find in his Woolworths bacon

A Woolworths customer has vented his frustration after finding an unwelcome ingredient in his deli bought meat.

“This was the lovely surprise I got with my bacon from your Toongabbie (NSW) store today,” the customer wrote on the Woolworths Facebook page along with a photo of what appeared to be part of a cockroach on top of a slice of bacon.

“Maybe have a word with them about their store cleanliness,” the annoyed customer suggested.

Some joked on Facebook about the find while others expressed their disgust.

“Ewww! There's bacon on that roach! Unlucky!” one person wrote.

“I can see how you're really bugged about the whole situation,” another said.

Somebody else claimed: “I’d be concerned as to where the other half of the roach is.”

One offered an unusual proposition for the customer.

“I can give you roaches for free if you want, no need to buy expensive bacon,” the person joked.

Woolworths quickly responded to the customer on social media, offering him a refund or replacement.

“We'd like to let you know that we do have a refund or replacement policy,” a Woolworths spokesperson wrote.

Although the customer didn’t seem too keen on a replacement.

“Why would I want a replacement? Just to get the chance of getting more bugs in my food, no thanks,” he wrote.

Woolworths responded again and said they had “passed this on to our team,” and offered a full refund.
