Lotto winner announces his immediate retirement plans after bagging $2.8 million jackpot
The lotto winner said he will 'write a letter' to his boss as soon as possible.
Early retirement is a dream for many hardworking Aussies, and one man is doing just that after snatching $2.8 million in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The Victorian, based in Glen Eira, found out about his new-found fortune after an official from The Lott contacted him on Sunday morning to confirm his winnings.
"Woah! That’s a big surprise! I’ve just checked my ticket online," he exclaimed. "I’m just going to retire now. I’ll have to write a letter to my boss."
The lucky man told The Lott he was planning to retire in a "couple of years" and had been "worrying" about his next steps. But after the unexpected call that all changed and he was ready to draft his resignation letter straight away.
He held one of the seven division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4441, with two each in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria and one in Western Australia. Drawn Saturday, February 10, each division one winning entry pocketed $2,857,142.86.
His winning entry was an 18-game QuickPick and the winning numbers were 42, 2, 12, 13, 1 and 20, while the supplementary numbers were 15 and 3.
Not all winners are ready to stop working
While there are many ready to call it quits after winning the lotto, one of Powerball's latest multi-millionaires recently vowed to carry on working after her $100 million win.
"I've wanted to change my job for a while, and some people might question why I have decided to wake up and continue to work, but I have studied hard to get where I am today, and I really want to continue to help others," she said.
She said the money would help her set up her own business, while she wants to take her family on a European holiday and purchase some acreage in Queensland.
