'Like Frozen meets The Sims': Internet reacts to bizarre police photos

A police unit’s online plea for help to identify two suspected criminals quickly turned farcical after Facebook users poked fun at their questionable composite images.

Northamptonshire Police in the UK shared two e-fit (Electronic Facial Identification Technique) images of men in connection to a firearms incident on December 28 and asked the Facebook community to help identify the men.

However, Facebook users appeared far more interested in ridiculing the badly designed images, suggesting they’d been pulled from dated computer games as opposed to being created by police software.

“Yeah, they’re definitely Russian, I remember seeing them both in GoldenEye on the Nintendo 64,” one user wrote, garnering over 2000 likes.

“It’s like Frozen meets the sims lol!!!!! There has to be better technology,” another wrote.

“They’re hiding in an alley until their wanted stars disappear,” joked another in reference to Grand Theft Auto.

Many suggested the men looked as if they were generated images from FIFA or Football Manager, while others said they appeared as if they were out of popular board game Guess Who?

One comment asked if the police department had failed to get new e-fit software for Christmas while another suggested the bearded man was Santa himself.

“Saw the first one breaking into folks’ houses via their chimney a couple of days ago,” one person joked.

Some did manage to take a serious approach, with one suggesting it wasn’t a “joking matter” and others calling for police to lift their game when it came to generating realistic images of suspects.

The pictures come just months after another police appeal in the UK was hijacked online after users noticed a suspect’s uncanny likeness to a famous US television star.
