Conflicting information has begun to circulate following the death of a 26-year-old influencer, who was found dead and naked on the side of the road.
Alexis Sharkey, an influencer who had lived in Houston, in the US state of Texas, went missing last week and was never seen or heard from again until her body was found on Sunday.
Houston Police said in a statement Ms Sharkey was found on 1000 Red Haw Lane in Houston, at around 8.30am on Saturday.
The cause of death is yet to be determined and no visible wounds were found on Ms Sharkey’s body.
Friends of Ms Sharkey have made some stunning allegations since her death, saying the 26-year-old was petrified.
Lauren Breaux, Ally Cale and Courtney Ehninger admit they don’t know what happened to their friend, though they believe she was murdered.
Ms Breaux told ABC13 she and Ms Sharkey went to Texas together recently, where the influencer confided in Ms Breaux and admitted she was worried for her safety.
“We were sitting down at dinner and she lost it,” Ms Breaux told the news station.
“We walked back to our hotel room and she confided in me that night in things. I looked at her [and thought], 'She's petrified. This girl is scared for her life’.”
The friends would not disclose who Ms Sharkey was scared of.
Husband speaks out about death threats
Ms Sharkey’s husband Tom Sharkey also spoke to ABC13, rebuking allegations she was unhappy in the marriage and said since her death, he has received death threats.
There have been allegations Ms Sharkey and her husband were going through a divorce and that he was physically violent with her, according to The Daily Beast.
Speaking to ABC13, Mr Sharkey asserted his wife was not happy and was stressed, but he would comfort her.
“I would cuddle her to try to make her strong. She was an amazing woman,” he told ABC13.
“There's always other sides to everything. I was the one holding her, cuddling her and building her back up.
“I don't need to set the record straight. I'll let it play out the way it is. I know what my life was with my wife.”
Mr Sharkey also said the last time he saw his wife he had told her she could not drive under the influence and said the two didn’t have a fight - though she did leave.
Stacey Robinault, Ms Sharkey’s mother, previously told KPRC Mr Sharkey had called her on Saturday to say she was missing and that it had been reported to the police.
Ms Sharkey’s family live in Pennsylvania, where she grew up. At the start of this year, Ms Sharkey moved to Houston.
