Who knew in 2020 that two years later, we’d still be wearing masks? Well, the reality is that we are, but luckily, our knowledge about COVID-19 has improved. Plus, there are finally easier ways to test and slow the spread, especially if you can get your hands on an at-home COVID test.

Unfortunately, at the start of the latest Omicron surge, at-home tests began selling out fast. But online store Bona Fide Masks is still stocked.

Bona Fide Masks works directly with the manufacturer of the On/Go COVID-19 Antigen Test. You can purchase a two-pack on its website for $32 and have it shipped for free in five to seven days via priority mail. However, the more tests you buy, the more you can save. So, if you’re shopping for the whole family or want to stock up for the next few months, it won’t hurt you to get a few extra.

The rapid test takes 10 minutes to show you your results. However, if you have symptoms or were exposed, the CDC recommends taking precautions like wearing masks around others and testing again in a few days, even if you test negative on the first test.

While most medical professionals and scientists agree that a PCR test is more accurate, rapid tests can help you quickly determine if you have COVID-19 or just the common cold. Some people have reported false negatives from the at-home tests, but that’s because these tests are less sensitive than those done in a lab. Studies have shown that they’re most effective when people have symptoms, especially during the first week.

So, rapid tests may not be able to detect the virus at the earliest phase of an infection, which is why it’s important to test again in a few days, especially if you’re feeling ill.

The CDC says that “COVID-19 self-tests (also referred to as home tests or over-the-counter [OTC] tests) are one of many risk-reduction measures, along with vaccination, masking, and physical distancing, that protect you and others by reducing the chances of spreading SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.”

If you already have enough tests, you can also get FDA-approved three-ply masks, KN95 masks, N95 masks and children’s masks on the Bona Fide Mask website.

These days, it’s worth checking out at least.
