My Hero Academia is getting a live-action movie adaptation for Netflix, and that adaptation has just gotten a big update.

In an interview with Collider, filmmaker Joby Harold was talking about his executive producing work on the Godzilla spin-off series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, when he was asked if his IMDb credit for the My Hero Academia was correct.

"Yes, it is," he said. "Absolutely. It is something I'm working on and loving working on. I'm excited to do it and get it out there. It's a big one."

Beyond saying that he is "actively" working on the film, Harold stated: "I can speak to the fact that it is live-action and I think that's probably all I can speak to, but it's a big deal in my life. I'm really enjoying it...

"It's amazing. It's an amazing opportunity and I'm really excited about it."

My Hero Academia began life as a manga before being turned into an anime, both of which are still ongoing.

The story takes place in a world where nearly everyone has superpowers, except for protagonist Izuku Midoriya. He desperately desired to become a hero, and lucks out when the legendary All Might decides to take him under his wing.

Meanwhile, a fourth animated movie in the franchise has been announced, with series creator Kohei Horikoshi revealing in a statement: "It'll take place after the War from season 6, meaning that the collapsed society will be the stage this time.

"After having been through so much and learning so many things, who will Deku and his friends fight against this time? What will they protect?!"

My Hero Academia is available to watch on Crunchyroll and Funimation Now.
