Herb hater stirs up motorists with controversial road sign

If you’ve ever had a delicious meal ruined by the mere presence of coriander, this one’s for you.

One Queenslander with an unused road sign and a bit of spare time made his feelings towards the divisive herb very well known this week.

Spotted out the front of a hardware store in Caloundra was a traffic sign that had a rather unusual message to passing motorists.

“I #$e%IN HATE CORIANDER”.

After emerging on the extremely relevant Facebook page, I Hate Coriander, it became very apparent that many people felt the same way.

”This is the only form of traffic control I can get around,” one highly amused person commented.

“Some heroes wear high vis,” another wrote.

“True legend right there,” another wrote.

Much to the surprise of some, the sign was not created by a Queensland government worker but from the local owner of Get Tools Direct, Mick Saunders.

“We actually own the sign and we had it sitting there … I just had a bit of a play,” he told The Sunshine Coast Daily.

Judging by his description of the herb, it’s safe to say his sign wasn’t exaggerated either.

“To me it tastes like when you kill a stink beetle and you get that real pungent smell, well that’s what it tastes like.”

But it seems not everyone agreed with the message.

In a devastating twist, the sign went missing on Wednesday, but Mr Saunders said he would never stop campaigning against coriander.
