Grisly details after Sydney woman found dead in bed
A manhunt is underway for a man wanted in relation to the alleged murder of a Sydney teacher in her friend’s home, as horrific details emerge surrounding her death.
Friends of Dannielle Finlay-Jones thought she was enjoying a sleep-in after spending the night with her new boyfriend, but when they went to check on her at about 2.30pm on Sunday, they found her lifeless body alone in the room.
The night before, Ms Finlay-Jones had introduced her boyfriend, identified by police as 33-year-old Ashley Gaddie, to her friends at The Marsden Brewhouse in Marsden Park, according to The Daily Telegraph. The couple then returned to a friend’s house in Cranebrook for the night.
Ms Finlay-Jones, 31, was found with serious head injuries and paramedics attending the scene were unable to revive her. Forensics crews were seen inspecting a ripped flyscreen in one of the windows at the home.
On Tuesday morning, police released a photo of the heavily tattooed Mr Gaddie, saying he is wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for murder.
Police are investigating how long the pair knew each other, but confirmed their relationship was not long-term. According to the Daily Telegraph, they met on a dating app.
Acting Superintendent John Nelson urged people to take caution when meeting up with a stranger for the first time.
“For anyone who is meeting anybody, make sure that it is in a safe environment and you're with friends in those initial meetings,” he said.
Mr Gaddie is described as being about 180cm tall, with blue eyes, a bald head and a muscular build. Both of his arms are tattooed and he is known to frequent the areas of Five Dock, Penrith and Mt Druitt.
Anyone with information regarding Mr Gaddie’s whereabouts is urged not to approach him and to call Triple 0 immediately.
