Girl, 7, was in toy aisle when she was allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted
A man will face court on Wednesday accused of kidnapping a young girl from a Brisbane shopping centre and indecently assaulting her.
The seven-year-old was shopping with her mother at Westfield North Lakes on Tuesday, when she was allegedly taken by a 26-year-old man for more than an hour.
It is understood she was Christmas shopping in a toy aisle when she was allegedly taken.
The man had allegedly spoken to the girl before managing to lure her away from her mother and out of the shopping centre.
Police allege he then drove her to bushland at nearby Pumicestone Passage where he sexually assaulted her.
After an hour and a half, the man allegedly returned the girl to the shopping centre.
The 26-year-old man accused is reportedly the father of young twin girls.
He has been charged with deprivation of liberty, taking a child for immoral purposes and indecent treatment of a child under 12.
The charges were mentioned in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning, but the court was closed to the media.
The case was adjourned until Wednesday morning.
