Furious debate over Perth driver's 'snobby' note

Notes left on windshields are a common way to blast a driver for failing to park correctly, however one “rude” message left on a car in Perth has taken it a step further - managing to insult an entire suburb at the same time.

The note, obtained by radio program 6PR Breakfast, was shared on Facebook after it was left on the windshield of a car in the affluent suburb of Claremont.

“This is not Balga. Park in the street. Not on the lawn. Don’t park here again,” the note reads.

According to Real Estate.com.au the median price of a house in Balga in 2019 was about $298,000 while in Claremont it was about $1.4 million.

On Facebook, some people called the note “rude” and “snobbish”.

“Why pick on Balga?” one woman wrote.

Another woman suggested it was an example of elitism.

“Typical of that area - think they are different to the normal people in the suburbs,” she wrote.

Others added there was “no need to shame another suburb”.

“How precious and entitled,” another woman wrote.

However, some felt the note was justified.

“I don’t like people parking on my lawn. I look after it. I don’t live in a rich area. I don’t see why people think they have a right to do it,” one woman wrote.
