Four sharks filmed metres from shore at popular beach

Sydney beachgoers have remained on high alert after another shark sighting.

Drones captured spectacular vision of four sharks just metres from the shore at Tamarama beach in Sydney’s east with a surfer almost going over the top of one.

As the sun rose over a tranquil Tamarama there was chaos in the water drone footage captured the creatures.

Footage showed a grey nurse shark heading straight for surfers. It was followed by another grey nurse and a hammerhead shark.

But the final creature? A 2.5 metre long great white shark.

“The surfers were only five to ten metres behind so we got them out with a megaphone,” Drone Shark App creator Jason Iggleden said.

Mr Iggleden and his team have been sending up their drone every morning since last Christmas to film surfers who subscribe to their app, often spotting sharks.

“Well I was quite nervous actually when I spotted them,” Mr Iggleden said.

“They were out in a jiffy, so it worked well, it shows our system works.”

Swimmers and surfers in Tamarama and around the state were on edge today following a shark attack yesterday on the NSW mid north coast after a man was mauled while surfing.

Jason hopes to roll out his project at beaches across the country to help keep surfers safe.
