Reports Farmer Wants a Wife rocked by star's shock exit

Farmer Wants a Wife seems set to hit a roadblock this week, after sources spilled that one of the stars of the show will be making a sudden exit from the series this week.

The reality show hit screens in late July after a for year hiatus following its last season in 2016.

Though show prides itself on its wholesome reputation – spawning nine marriages and 20 kids – and even sold itself off the ‘real love is back’ tagline in a not-so-subtle dig at other Aussie reality shows, it seems to have hit choppy waters almost from the get-go.

Initially, a very pointed lack of diversity on the program came under fire, now it seems one of the farmers will be calling it a day far earlier than anticipated.

Either farmer Harry, Nick, Sam, Neil or Alex will be hitting the dirt road far sooner than expected, with reports published in The Daily Telegraph’s Confidential claiming that one of the five will be exiting the show this week over a ‘family tragedy’.

The online gossip site claims one of the show’s most popular bachelor farmers will be the one to leave, and specify a death in the family is behind the sudden exit.

It will leave the show with just four country lads looking for love, down from the six promised in the shows earliest promos.

Channel Seven has been contacted for comment.

Fans were left shocked after the earliest promos promised six farmers, Harry, Nick, Sam, Neil, Alex and Jack, only to silently downsize to five, giving farmer Jack the flick.

Seven has not commented on the loss of farmer Jack, and the series has so far gone ahead with just the five-country boys and their bevvy of hopeful ladies.

The latest hiccup comes after a contestant lifted the lid on her experience of the show, claiming she was booted from the already very one-size fits all cast for being ‘too fat’.

Speaking exclusively with Yahoo Lifestyle, size 16 nurse and model scout Amber Gwynne said she decided to sign up for Farmer Wants A Wife after the breakdown of her seven-year relationship. But it seems it wasn't meant to be.

The short-lived contestant was kicked off just 36 hours in, and has joined the voices calling for the show to expand what many fans have argued is a very thin, very white current portfolio.

The show has so far been a huge hit with audiences, many of whom report they are loving the more ‘wholesome’ option, compared with very drama-filled series like Married at First Sight and The Bachelor that dominated the reality scene for the past year.
