A Melbourne family who thought they narrowly missed winning $717,000 were overjoyed to find they had actually won when they checked the ticket again.
The couple won the TattsLotto draw 4305 on the weekend and were one of seven division one players who took home the same prize.
“It’s wonderful,” the woman told an official from The Lott on Monday morning.
“I’ve put the ticket in a safe space because I’m so scared of losing it. We haven’t gotten over the shock yet!
“I went to manually check the winning numbers on Sunday morning and I completely missed number 21. I thought we were one number off winning division one."
After thinking they missed out, the woman went to the news agency to buy a newspaper.
While there, she thought to double check just in case, which is when the newsagent read her winning number.
“I said to myself, ‘Oh, I’m sure we had number 21!’" the Melbourne local said.
"I looked up The Lott website and I entered my ticket number, and it came up that we’ve won division one. I couldn’t believe it."
When asked what she would do with the prize, she said the money would be split between her, her partner and their children.
“The ticket is shared amongst our family, and our adult children are stoked," she said.
“We’re not too sure what we’ll spend the money on as we’re still trying to process it all."
"We hope to come together and celebrate sometime soon!"
The Victorian family's 12-game QuickPick was bought at 99 Spencer Street Lotto in Melbourne, where the team was thrilled to have sold one of the winning entries.
They also wished the family all the best with their $717,000 prize.
As for the other six Australian winners, four were also in Victoria, one was in Queensland and the last person was from Western Australia.
On Saturday, the winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4305 were 7, 17, 41, 21, 35, 24, while the supplementary numbers were 23 and 5.
