Man caught drink-driving twice in one night

A drunk driver didn’t learn his lesson the first time after he crashed into a building in Western Australia and lost his licence – only to return to the scene later.

The 66-year-old man was almost five times the legal blood alcohol limit when he allegedly hit a building in Forrestfield, southeast of Perth, about 9pm on Saturday.

The driver blew a 0.239 BAC, was issued a disqualification notice, and charged for drink-driving.

Police drove the man home before he later returned to the crash scene in a truck, again recording a BAC over the limit at 0.225, they say.

He was then charged for the same offences, in addition to a charge of driving without authority. The truck was impounded for 28 days.

He is due to appear in the Midland Magistrates Court on July 24.
