Doctor arrested after threatening to 'slit throats' of employees

A female doctor has been charged with making “terroristic threats” after allegedly telling staff she would “slit their throats.”

Police allege that Marian Antoinette Patterson, a family practice doctor in Valdosta, Georgia, made the threats during an incident on February 21, WCTV reported.

According to authorities, the doctor threw objects including a reflex hammer and prescription bottles at her staff and allegedly told one employee she would “cut her head off and roll it down the hallway.”

The doctor, who has been practising in Georgia for almost 30 years, had her medical license temporarily suspended in March, Fox News reported.

Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Ashley Paulk said Dr Patterson was allegedly going through a difficult time in her personal life when the incident occurred.

Following a police investigation she was arrested and charged with three counts of terroristic threats and false imprisonment after allegedly trying to detain a staff member inside the office.

She turned herself into Lowndes County Jail last week and has since been released on bail.
