Disgusting dog act caught on camera: 'SO CRUEL'
WARNING — GRAPHIC CONTENT: A horrifying video of a stray dog being dragged behind a car has caused widespread outrage.
The video was taken on the streets of Jodhpur in India over the weekend. It seems the video was filmed by someone on a motorbike.
The motorbike was trailing the white car. The dog is seen running alongside and behind the white vehicle with its lead attached to the car.
The dog struggles to keep up with the car, making the video very difficult to watch.
The video was shared by Jodhpur's Dog Home Foundation and was quickly picked up by several media outlets in India.
Dog Home Foundation identified the driver as a doctor. NDTV reported the doctor claimed the dog was a stray who was found near his house. He was reportedly trying to get rid of the dog.
Locals reportedly gathered around the doctor's vehicle and unchained the stray dog. The dog suffered multiple fractures as a result of the incident, Dog Home Foundation said.
The Dog Home Foundation called for the police to take action against the driver, saying his license should be cancelled for the despicable act.
Another video was shared by the foundation showing vets tending to the dog following the incident and clips of the doctor surrounded by people. The foundation also noted the dog was not aggressive to any of the attendants at the kennel.
Driver who dragged dog to face court
People were furious after seeing the video shared on social media. Some said the man was "shameless" for dragging the chained dog around the streets.
"This is heartbreaking....I can't stop crying...how can any human being be so cruel.....this is an act of extreme atrocity and torture inflicted on a living being," someone said on Twitter.
In a statement on Twitter, Jodhpur Police said the doctor has had his vehicle confiscated and legal action regarding the animal cruelty has been taken.
He will appear in court soon, the police said.
