David Campbell gives update on dad Jimmy Barnes' hospital dash
David Campbell has revealed he didn’t find out about his dad Jimmy Barnes’ trip to the emergency department until he saw it on Instagram.
Providing an update for viewers on Today Extra this morning, David, who is the eldest son of the Cold Chisel front man, confirmed his dad was admitted for a stomach bug.
As Karl Stefanovic and Alison Langdon were finishing up on the Today show on Wednesday morning, and passing on to Today Extra, they asked David Campbell for an update on his dad.
“We’ve been talking about your gorgeous dad all morning. How is is?” Ally asked.
“He’s absolutely fine I spoke to him last night,” David responded, before revealing how he had found out.
“Although, like everybody else here I didn’t find out until it went up on Instagram,” he said, prompting laughter from his co-host Belinda Russell and the Today team.
“That was a sign that he was ok,” David continued. “He just had a stomach bug that went really, really bad. They were worried about it. He went to hospital and was out within a few hours.”
Jimmy Barnes rushed to emergency
Jimmy Barnes shared an update from his hospital bed after being rushed to the emergency department by his wife Jane on Monday night.
The rocker thanked the doctors and nursed who had looked after him, and also shared another post dedicating a song - the Beatles classic, With a little help from our friends - to his wife and the hospital staff.
“I spent last night in ER at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, and I want to thank the amazing staff who took care of me,” he captioned the image of himself in his hospital bed.
