WATCH: Firefighter gets his tongue stuck to frozen pole in dare for free lunch

A firefighter has gone to extreme lengths for a free lunch after being dared to stick his tongue to a frozen flag pole.

Captain Kevin Culver, from the Jeffersontown Fire Department in Kentucky, posted a video of the stunt to Facebook on Thursday.

In the clip recorded outside the US fire station, the father approaches the freezing pole and sticks his tongue out.

As expected, it quickly becomes stuck.

Laughing as they watched the antics unfold, the man's co-workers came to his rescue by pouring warm coffee on his tongue to melt the ice.

A freed Capt. Culver falls to the ground in a fit of laughter.

He said his tongue was a bit sore afterwards, but it was all worth it for a free lunch.

The firie's antics have been compared to the dare scene from the 1983 family comedy movie A Christmas Story.

The video had already been viewed more than one million times and shared more than 16,000 times in just two days.
