Dancing With the Stars Recap: Who Fell Short of the Final 6 on Whitney Houston Night? Plus, the Dance-Off Returns!

Typically, at this point in a Dancing With the Stars season, we’d be about seven days away from finding out the winner of the Mirrorball trophy. Not so much this year!

Even though Season 32’s start was only delayed by about a week, there were still seven couples competing on Tuesday’s Whitney Houston-themed episode, with three more weeks remaining in the season after this one. And once again, the episode was split into two rounds: After the usual individual dances, it was time for this season’s dance-off, in which two couples performed simultaneously to the same style and song, and bonus points were awarded to the judges’ favorite pair in each match-up.

This time around, Alyson and Sasha triumphed over Harry and Rylee in the rumba; Barry and Peta (a very shirtless Barry, mind you!) beat Jason and Daniella in the salsa; and Charity and Artem eked out a win over Xochitl and Val in the cha-cha.

But were those bonus points from the dance-off enough to keep the head-to-head winners safe from elimination? Keep scrolling to see who got booted on Whitney Houston Night, then drop a comment with your reactions!

It’s always hard to see a contestant go home on the night of their strongest performances, but Barry had been stagnating for a few unmemorable weeks before he had a breakthrough on Tuesday. It can be tough to make up for that difference with viewers’ votes, but Barry’s charisma and endless optimism were a joy to behold all season.
