Luck has doubled back around for a retired southeast Queensland couple who won a division one Lotto prize some 50 years ago.

On Saturday the couple from Queensland were one of five winning division one entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4135, winning $1,156,990.80.

Back in the 1970s, the couple was able to set themselves up for life after they won $30,000.

Speaking to The Lott following their second division one win, the couple said their first win meant they were able to buy a few properties and a car.

The couple was floored by their second win and said they have been playing Saturday Gold Lotto “for donkey’s years”.

“We need to get a few things done around house,” the man explained.

“We will be able to buy ourselves a new car.

“And then we will really be able to help out the kids. This one is for them!

Owner of shop where ticket purchased 'thrilled'

The man who is now retired said the win has made his wife’s day and the owner of Nextra Lowood, where the couple purchased their ticket, Nia Kugel, was also thrilled for them.

“This couple have been coming in here for years and years,” she said.

“We were so thrilled when they came in and told us we are the winners.

“They are such a deserving and very lovely couple.
