Coles customers go crazy over bizarre sign moment

A Coles sign in Queensland has become an internet phenomenon after one bizarre moment involving four pigeons was caught on camera.

A photo posted to a Facebook group called “Crap Bird Photography” shows a bird sitting on each letter except one, with the caption: "It bugs me that there’s no pigeon on the e."

Members of the group were sent flying into a frenzy over the image, which was swiftly inundated with comments.

“Sleepless nights,” one person commented.

Another said: “Does my OCD in.”

Someone else suggested it was the “European spelling”.

“They know it’s basically the same word without the “e” anyway,” another wrote.

One person proposed pigeons “always resented the ‘e’ in their name” and another said “they belong to Col”.

“The e pigeon e-scaped,” another joked.

Some photoshopped the fifth bird on the ‘e’, to which someone responded: “That will relieve a lot of stress for some people.”

Pigeons ditch 'C' in second photo-op

Later that day, a second bird watcher at the Nambour store found themselves in the same frustrating waiting game.

But this time, the letter ‘C’ was snubbed.

“Different letter but same outcome,” they wrote.

“More sleepless nights. Can anyone top this with a photo of a missing bird on S, L and O?” one person asked.

Another woman quizzed if anyone else felt “like sitting in front of a Coles and waiting to catch a pic of birds sitting on EVERY letter?”

“I am never going to the supermarket without my camera ever again,” declared another as someone suggested starting a new group for “Coles birds”.

“I'm going to Coles tomorrow just to look for letter birds,” one person wrote.

While others pondered whether the birds were trying to send a message or if it was some kind of “niche viral marketing campaign” by the supermarket giant.

“Could fit more birds on a Woolworths sign,” one man pointed out.
