Car smashes into Sydney shopfronts during wild police chase

A wild police pursuit has ended in carnage after a car carrying suspected stolen goods drove onto the footpath and crashed into three shopfronts in Sydney’s inner west.

Officers attempted to pull over the Holden Commodore about 11.45pm on Monday before the driver accelerated, sparking a pursuit down Parramatta Road.

But a short time into the pursuit, plumes of smoke appeared from the engine.

The men then drove up onto the footpath before smashing into three shop fronts at the Broadway Shopping Centre in Glebe.
