Car impaled by iron beam after it smashes into truck

A reversing truck has impaled a passing car with a huge iron girder it was transporting across town.

The accident left the iron girder impaled through the car windscreen at a crossroads in the city of Zhuzhou in the province of Hunan in China.

A video showed a red truck carrying the girders that are appear to be protruding from the back of the lorry as it attempts to turn on a crossroads.

Two of the girders were so long they were jutting out from the lorry onto the road behind without a warning flag that would have been normal for a long load.

As the truck reverses to make the turn, a white car, apparently not seeing the girders, hits them, with one them impaling its windscreen.

The driver of the car was reportedly shocked but otherwise unharmed, although the other passenger sitting on the front seat was slightly injured and sent to hospital.

It is not known whether an investigation will be open.
