Bunnings product recalled over risk of serious injury

Aussies who purchased the product are urged to return it immediately.

A lawn mower sold at Bunnings has been recalled over a fault which could cause injury to users or bystanders.

The grass catcher for the Victa Classic cut lawn mower – 18th anniversary edition — has been deemed faulty by Product Safety Australia, with consumers urged to stop using it and return it immediately.

Debris may break through the plastic case of the grass catcher while the mower is being used, the ACCC warns. This could cause serious injury including lacerations if debris breaks through and hits the user or bystanders.

What should Bunnings customers do?

The mower is supplied by Briggs & Stratton Australia Pty Ltd and is sold at Bunnings stores nationally. The recall affects mowers that have serial numbers between 421966679 and 421973958 only, which were available for sale between 1 Nov 2022 and 28 Feb 2023.

Those affected should stop using the mower and return the catcher (not the whole lawn mower) to your local Victa dealer for a replacement part. For more information, consumers can contact Victa on 1800 356 632, or email enquiries@briggsandstratton.com.au.
