Bizarre disappearance of slain doctor Ash Gordon's girlfriend comes to light

Ash Gordon, 33, was allegedly stabbed and rammed with a car by a group of intruders who raided his home early on Saturday morning.

Just days after an Aussie doctor was killed outside his apartment in a "terrifying" early morning attack, a bizarre new twist has surfaced — his hairdresser girlfriend vanished from the same property for a full week, a year earlier.

Ash Gordon, a Melbourne GP, was allegedly stabbed and rammed with a car by a group of intruders who raided his Doncaster home in the early hours of Saturday morning. The 33-year-old was found by police on Eildon Street, less than a kilometre from his home, at about 5.30am. He died at the scene.

Gordon was chasing away thieves who broke into his home before he was fatally attacked, with shoes and laptops stolen from his apartment. So far, no arrests have been made. When contacted by Yahoo News on Wednesday morning, Victoria Police reported there had been no update on the investigation.

New twist emerges after doctor killed in early morning tragedy

It has now emerged that Gordon's partner, local hairdresser Dakota Nagel, disappeared for an entire week from the same two-bedroom apartment the pair shared a year earlier, the Daily Mail reported. Nagel failed to return home after a night of clubbing on January 8, 2023, vanishing for a full week.

Strangely, two days after Nagel disappeared, an image of her deceased pet was posted to her Koda Hair Extensions Instagram page, an act which loved ones said was out of character as she primarily used the platform for business purposes.

Following a week-long search, Nagel was eventually found on January 15, but no explanation over her disappearance was ever made public.

"[Gordon's killing] is being investigated exactly as it has been reported, as an initial aggravated burglary then a confrontation in which the victim died," a police spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia. "Nothing about a missing person had been raised."

Nagel's disappearance 'out of character', family said at the time

At the time, family members questioned her disappearance, saying there's "no way" she'd voluntarily take off.

"Our family are worried sick and her puggy fur-babies are distraught. She would not have left them this long," Nagel's aunt Anne-Maree Key said, according to multiple reports. "Her fur-kids are her life and mean as much to her as ours do.

"She's also about to become an aunty and is so excited, so there's no way she would miss it."

Tributes pour for slain doctor

Meanwhile, tributes are flowing for Gordon — a skin specialist — who is being remembered as a "true gentleman". "Intelligent, honest, compassionate, friendly, generous… I don't think there is one positive characteristic I could leave out," one note written by friend Daniel Fahry read.

"Gone way too soon, brother. I truly thank you for all that you helped me with."

"Ash was one of the nicest, most humble guys you could meet. No matter your differences in life he was always up for a chat and meeting new people," close friend Jovanne Pieterse told The Herald Sun. "He had this energy that would light up any room, and was dearly loved by so many."

Ash Gordon's sister Natalie implores offenders to hand themselves in

Gordon's grieving sister Natalie fronted media yesterday, imploring the culprits to hand themselves in.

“Hand yourself in. Stop being a coward and accept the punishment because you can’t even begin to imagine what you’ve caused our family,” Natalie Gordon told Today. “You probably don’t care but I’d like to see justice served.”

She said the issue of youth violence and break-ins in Melbourne had been talked about “for so long” without action, possibly pointing to reports that her brother's property was the site of a raging party on Friday night, attended by minors, just hours before his death.

“Everybody’s been talking about it, we need to stop talking and start doing, start really punishing these people,” Natalie said.

“The justice system is weak nowadays and I want to bring back harsher punishments, parents being able to discipline their children so that they learn to respect people and not treat other humans this way. Obviously, we’ve been dealt a terrible hand, but I just hope now that my brother is remembered as the amazing person that he is."
