Australia Post's Christmas cut-off dates fast approaching

Australia Post has announced the last-sending dates for Christmas deliveries within Australia and for over 180 international destinations as it prepares for the busiest season of the year.

The deadlines for sending mail to and from most destinations in Australia via regular Parcel Post have past, but if sending via Express Post you have until Monday 19 December, unless you're in Western Australia or Northern Territory, where you only have until Wednesday 14 December.

Christmas cards being sent within the same state or territory should be posted by Monday 19 December, or if sending interstate by Thursday 15 December.

Australia Post Executive General Manager, Customer and Commercial Gary Starr said the company's recommended last sending dates played an important role in helping people plan for Christmas last year, and that the organisation is ready for another busy festive season.

"Last year, we delivered 52 million parcels in December and we've been preparing all year for another busy peak season by recruiting thousands of new team members, investing in our network and making digital enhancements like improved notifications for parcel deliveries," Mr Starr said.

Check the dates regularly

Mr Starr stated that Australians should still consider factors that are outside Australia Post's control. "We can have weather events or other things can happen around the world, so we'd encourage everyone to check in on our website regularly to check those dates, and we'll be doing everything we can to deliver all those parcels and letters by Christmas if you post them by the last posting date," he assured. "As always, we'll continue to deliver items sent after these dates as quickly as possible but they may not arrive until after Christmas," he said.
