Aussie newsagent delivers second lottery millionaire in less than a year
The latest winner has chosen to stay anonymous as the newsagent claims another division one entry.
A newsagent on a "winning streak" has sold a second major division one lottery ticket in less than a year — with the recent mystery winner collecting $1 million from the Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto.
The winning entry was sold at Nextra Forest Lake News in Forest Lake — a suburb situated in the southwest of Brisbane — and comes only nine months after another resident won a whopping $33 million Powerball prize in December from the newsagent.
"We’re absolutely over the moon to have graced another customer with a million-dollar win and who would’ve known it would happen less than a year after our previous win!” shop manager Jenny Ford said.
"We sold a [winning] entry in the $100 million Powerball draw... I don’t think we will ever be able to beat that but hopefully we do!"
The winning entries from Wednesday's draw 4325 were 15, 41, 14, 35, 4 and 5, while the supplementary numbers were 20 and 37, with another division one winning entry from South Australia.
Newsagent's latest winning streak is 'rare'
Although there are many retailers dotted around the country lucky enough to claim multiple division one winners, Nextra Forest Lake News' winning streak is particularly special.
"Selling a division one winning entry worth over $20 million is rare in itself as it's not often that Powerball jackpots to heights of $100 million, like in December 2022. It's great that the retailer is on a winning streak and has sold another division one winning entry," The Lott's Anna Hobdell told Yahoo News Australia.
One the country's most impressive winning streaks come from Melton Lotto & TSG in Melbourne — selling 62 division one entries since it opened its doors 20 years ago, with their latest division one entry sold last week resulting in a $1.7 million win.
