Augusta Adventure race draws big field
Hundreds of keen athletes are expected to descend on Augusta this weekend for the annual adventure race.
The Act-Belong-Commit Augusta Adventure Fest will be run on Sunday, with the Leeuwin Lighthouse again to feature in the race that attracts international attention.
Athletes will take on a 12.5km trail run, 1.9km ocean swim, 13km kayaking stretch and a 32km bike ride, with more than 3400 competitors expected.
A number of local teams were also expected to front up for the personal challenge alongside semi-professional athletes for whom the race is now an annual fixture.
Local teams include Team KPSI, which consists of Margaret River Senior High School teachers Stuart Kupfer-Hollis, Ian Thwaites, Kara Beecham and Priscilla Den Boer, and the Augusta Grotty Yachties will wave the banner for the Augusta Yacht Club.
An all-female Shire team named the Shirettes features Sarah Kissell, Megan Smith, Annie Riordan and Amanda Russell.
