Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo went to Camp Nou to watch the team's Champions League clash against Napoli on Saturday night, but the Brazilian was not allowed into the stadium.

Arthur returned to Barcelona on Friday after previously telling the Catalan club he was staying in Brazil and would not be returning to play in the continental competition.

The midfielder, who will join Juventus this summer, decided to travel back in the hope of rescinding his contract after Barca said they would take disciplinary action against the 23-year-old.

But after turning up at Camp Nou to watch his team-mates in action on Saturday, the Brazilian was turned away by the club due to the strict protocols in place for Covid-19, which meant only 380 people were present for the match.

"Arthur didn't come here when he was supposed to, he didn't pass a PCR [test] with the club, from UEFA, he's off the list of people who can be inside the stadium and that's why he's not here," Barca's director of institutional relations Guillermo Amor told Movistar.

"We will see what happens. The most important thing was today's game and we'll speak about it later."
