Aldi shopper stunned by 'beautiful' checkout act: 'Couldn’t believe it!'

Lining up at the register at Aldi can often be quite the task, particularly if only one register is open.

But one Aldi customer was left stunned recently after a fellow shopper did the unthinkable.

“Did my weekly shop today at my usual Aldi and there was a bit of a line and only one register open,” the woman explained on the Aldi Fans Australia Facebook page.

“When a second register opened, I motioned for the man in front of me in the other line so go first even though I was closer because he was there before me.

"Anyway, he hung around at the front after he had been served.”

What he did next completely shocked the woman.

“When my groceries were finished being scanned, he stepped up and paid for them,” she said.

Her total weekly Aldi shop added up to $187 with the kind stranger paying for her entire shop.

The man explained that he did the good deed because she had done a nice thing for him by letting him be served first.

“I didn’t think anything of letting him go first because he was there before me,” the woman continued.

“What he did for me was a lot nicer than what I did for him, I couldn’t believe it!”

Customers can't believe his kindness

The woman’s story quickly racked up more than 1300 likes and dozens of comments from fellow Aldi shoppers.

Many were just as shocked as she was to hear of the man’s extremely kind-hearted gesture, with some saying it “restored their faith in humanity”.

“WOW! Well a beautiful gesture for receiving a beautiful gesture from you,” one person wrote.

“So nice to read something positive in this crazy world at the moment,” commented another.

“This restores my faith in humanity there are still amazing people out there what an amazing human he is,” added a third.

Paying it forward

Kindness amongst strangers has been a hot topic across social media, with numerous stories of people paying it forward at the supermarket and showing kindness to others.

Aldi shoppers urged the woman to now go ahead and "pay it forward" herself, explaining what they’ve done for others in the past.

“So nice to read something positive for a change. Nice people do exist. Someone did something similar for me in a service station line paying for petrol once. I will never forget it and always pay it forward when I can,” one person shared.

“People do this at my register all the time, it’s so beautiful to watch,” added another.

“Pay it forward. Being in a coffee line, and finding out the person in front of you randomly paid for your coffee is lovely,” commented another.
