Aldi shopper branded 'entitled princess' after Facebook rant backfires

An Aldi customer's scathing complaint has backfired spectacularly, with other shoppers jumping to the defence of the supermarket and labelling the woman "entitled".

The shopper was blasted online for her "unfair" and "rude" treatment of staff, with fellow shoppers coming to the defence of employees.

In her post, the shopper complained that her local store recently only had one register opened while she waited behind a person with a full trolley but only had a few items herself.

"Next to me a young man was pricing something on a shelf... at the front of the store was a young girl totally oblivious to the world, spraying and cleaning," she wrote.

"I finally asked the man if he could open another register, please."

She said the staffer looked up and told her the wait wouldn't be too long and continued working.

"I took those four items, dumped them on a shelf and walked out. Clearly caring about customers is the last thing this store thinks about."

The woman finished her post by writing, "I really do HATE this store" and added that she wouldn't be returning.

'They're happy you're gone'

But fellow Aldi shoppers called out the woman for being "entitled" and acting like a "princess."

"Imagine going to the cheapest place possible and then complaining to not get treated like a princess. And then even going back," one person commented after her post was shared to Reddit.

"It took her longer to type this out than it would have taken to wait," observed another.

"Spoiler: they're happy you're gone," shared a third.

Customers also started "praising how awesome the ALDI staff are" at the store, sharing their admiration for the employees.

Meanwhile, others said Aldi's speedy register service is what makes shopping there great.

"Being sixth in line at Aldi is equivalent to second in line anywhere else. Those people are beasts, that's their whole model," one person commented.

"I swear every time I have a cart full of groceries and they're ringing up the person in front of me I have to speed-load my stuff onto the belt because they're done in a literal blink," agreed another.

"Aldi scans and tosses a whole grocery cart of groceries back into a cart faster than you can unload a cart onto the belt."

There are 'unspoken rules'

It was also pointed out that there were unspoken Aldi register rules, which meant letting those with less items in front of you if you have a full trolley, with staff and customers both being kind to each other.

"Wow! In our lovely little Aldi if the conveyor belt is full, the next till is opened and one of the other staff jump on. And we have nice customers too. I always let people with a couple of items go in front of me if I have a full shop, and it's been done for me too," one shopper said.

"Best of all, staff are FAST! And they don't move stuff around every two minutes!"

After receiving a wave of backlash with hundreds of comments disagreeing with her "rude rant," the woman's post was deleted.
