Airbnb guests make astonishing find behind bookshelf: 'Oh my god'

Two Airbnb guests have videoed themselves discovering a hidden door behind a bookshelf in the property they were staying at.

The two UK women who booked the stay on a whim in the Welsh town of Aberaeron could hardly contain their excitement when making the find.

"Look what we just found in our Airbnb literally on the last day," singer and songwriter Grace Grundy said on TikTok.

"Just think it's a bookshelf, nothing to see here" she narrates as her friend swings the shelf to the side. "But where does it go?"

As the friend opens the wooden door behind it, Ms Grundy reacts with an "Oh my god."

"It's a secret room with a secret door."

The room appears to have features such as a piano, couches, a fireplace, a foosball table, lamps and a carpet.

Ms Grundy also recorded herself playing the piano in another video, while singing her original song.

People react to 'secret' discovery at Airbnb

The TikTok posted on the artist's page has since gone viral, with more than 100,000 people watching on with interest.

Many were quick to debunk that the room was actually hidden.

"Secret door? can see those hinges from space," one person said, referring to the hinges on the side of the bookshelf.

"How did you not notice a whole side of the building?" said another.

"I've stayed at this AirBnB and that's advertised in the listing as its part of the hire. No secret about it," a third person said.

Ms Grundy claimed she didn’t look through the listing properly because it was a “last minute adventure”, and also didn't think much of the building attached to the one she was staying in because of the "communal" circumstances.

"It's the woods and there’s loads of buildings where other people stay in as well so that’s why we didn’t think the building shape was weird — its a communal area," Ms Grundy said.

“In hindsight the hinges are SO obvious," she added in the comments. "The lamp was in front of that bit though... so just took us so long to spot them.”

Many also said they wanted to stay in the quirky Airbnb surrounded by meadows and lush woodland, with one person in the comments as well as Ms Grundy confirming the name of the Airbnb listing on TikTok.

While the listing didn't mention how to access the room labelled as "The Long Barn," it did say it's available for use by guests.
